BARI reeds are synthetic and made from a special formula that absorbs a certain percentage of moisture and always remains constant in that it cannot warp or squeak. These reeds are not to be confused with anything you have ever experienced in a molded plastic reed. All reeds are machined, just like cane, and are 100% consistent.
